Disaster Index: 4.1 Entry: The Returning Proof Cause: A previously overlooked player returning to the squad carrying explicit intent to demonstrate what was missed. Category: Emotional Evidence: McBurnie absent under Clarke for an extended period. Returns with a stated point to prove. The phrase "eternally grateful" suggests gratitude and grievance are being managed simultaneously. Historical precedent: Scotland have periodically reintegrated overlooked strikers at tournament moments. The results do not form a reliable pattern. Affected parties: McBurnie; the manager's selection logic; supporters who dismissed him and must now recalibrate. Immediate outlook: Productive motivation and unresolved grievance occupy the same body. The Index records the presence of both without assigning odds to either.
